The gunmetal grey cups in the closed position are camouflaged in the urban landscape, but any participant who opens them to use the machine, will be surprised by the candy-colored interiors, which reference playgrounds and encourage mischievous action. Three Snow Machines were installed for two weeks in the winter of 2009 throughout the city of Chicago - one green, one yellow, one red - each bearing a sticker describing how to properly use the machine.
