The mythic potential of masculine power is replaced by the mechanical power, and the rugged individualism espoused by 18th and 19th century Manifest Destiny (epitomized by the myth of Paul Bunyan) and realized by 19th century lumber barons is deconstructed by the duplication of engine mounts at either end. The blunt heads diffuse the phallic nature of the industrial chainsaw, but also reimagine the historic hand-drawn two-man bucksaw that real lumbermen used.
